GirdWild focuses its work on:
GirdWild acknowledges that our work takes place on the traditional lands of the Upper Cook Inlet Dena'ina people. We honor with gratitude the Dena'ina people of past and present, who have stewarded and maintained connections to this land, and we honor the land itself.
GirdWild recognizes that colonization is an active and persistent process, and one that extends to all aspects of human relationships to each other and our environments. Indigenous communities continue to be resilient in protecting their cultural lifeways and deathways - including relationships to the land - despite ongoing oppression. GirdWild respects, shares and supports Indigenous communities’ efforts regarding environmental health, justice and stewardship.
Please join GirdWild in supporting equity and respect for Alaska’s Indigenous peoples. This includes supporting respect and inclusivity within Girdwood, and in this, GirdWild also expresses its solidarity and friendship with Girdwood’s Alaska Native community members. We look forward to building a future together that transcends social and environmental alienation and harm.
GirdWild also asks that you please consider developing relationships with and supporting those working on behalf of Alaska’s Indigenous peoples, such as Alaska Native Tribes and Organizations.
